Education & Learning

The education program remains at the heart of the E.Zobel Foundation's programs. Our work focuses on:

  1. Skill development and improvement for the people of Calatagan that would lead to enterprise development or employment. This would entail that all skills development should include inputs on how to set up a business or would have employment opportunities or contacts.

  2. Assistance to formal education that leads to capacitating teachers in the conduct of their tasks or improve learning capabilities of students

ENZO Tech institution is the physical embodiment of the Foundation’s commitment to education.

Programs under this directive include teacher capacitation, renovation of public schools, and technical-vocational education.

ENZO TECH ASSESSMENT CENTER

ENZOTech is also a TESDA-recognized Assessment Center and it continues to gain recognition from various partner schools for its quality-assessment services.

EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM

The Foundation continues to pursue and administer two separate scholarship programs funded by Mercedes Zobel and the late Mr. Tom Layng.

I LOVE TO READ PROGRAM

The Foundation consistently delivers hundreds of books and different learning materials to public elementary schools in Calatagan, in partnership with the De La Salle Santiago-Zobel, through its Book Mobile Project.

“The expansion of secondary education, mobility to better-paying jobs, access to basic services, and government social assistance have started to reduce inequality since the mid-2000s. However, unequal opportunities, slow access to tertiary education among low-income households, inequality in returns to college education, and social norms putting the heavier burden of childcare on women has slowed down the narrowing of inequality in the Philippines.”
