Nurturing Academic Excellence: E. Zobel Foundation Convenes Mercedes Zobel Educational Assistance Program (MZEAP) Scholars General Assembly
CALATAGAN, BATANGAS — On May 29, 2026, E. Zobel Foundation, Inc. (EZF) successfully hosted the Mercedes Zobel Educational Assistance Program (MZEAP) Scholars General Assembly at Function Hall, ENZO TECH Compound, Brgy. Gulod, Calatagan Batangas. The program brought together 86 scholars spanning elementary, junior high, senior high, and college levels, alongside their dedicated parents and guardians, to prepare for the upcoming academic year.
The primary objective of the assembly was to align beneficiary families with the updated policies, operational guidelines, and procedural expectations of MZEAP. By establishing clear milestones for compliance, the Foundation aims to reinforce its structural partnership with local families, ensuring a comprehensive ecosystem of support for each student's educational trajectory.
A Call for Responsibility and Perseverance
A core highlight of the assembly was an address by Mr. Paulino M. Buenconsejo, Executive Director of the E. Zobel Foundation, Inc. In his message, Mr. Buenconejo underscored that access to quality education is a shared responsibility that requires resilience from the students and active participation from their guardians.
"Educational assistance is a foundation upon which you build your future," Mr. Buenconejo shared, reminding the beneficiaries. "True success relies on your perseverance, discipline, and the responsible management of the opportunities afforded by this scholarship."
The open forum allowed the foundation's leadership to address community inquiries directly, setting a transparent and motivating tone for the incoming school term.
Equipping Scholars for the Upcoming Academic Term
To directly address the economic challenges faced by families during the back-to-school season, the event featured the deployment of critical educational subsidies and school necessities. The strategic distribution included:
- Daily Essentials: High-grade school bags and complete institutional uniforms.
- Financial Subsidies: School supplies vouchers and dedicated shoe allowances tailored to each academic tier.
In addition to baseline educational assistance, the E. Zobel Foundation awarded scholars celebrating the academic distinctions of the previous school year. Scholars who achieved exceptional grade standards were recognized on stage and awarded cash incentives for academic excellence—a foundational practice designed to incentivize merit, hard work, and continuous self-improvement.
Sustaining Community Impact
The assembly concluded with expressions of deep appreciation from the attendees. For many households in the agricultural and coastal sectors of Calatagan, the multi-layered support of the MZEAP significantly reduces the financial barriers to education, safeguarding student retention and empowering the youth to achieve long-term socio-economic mobility.
Through the continuous refinement of programs like the MZEAP, the E. Zobel Foundation sustains its structural commitment to human capital development, proving that community transformation begins with investing in the education of the youth.
