Empowering the Next Generation: E. Zobel Foundation Successfully Held the General Assembly of Tom Layng Educational Assistance Program (TLEAP) Scholars
CALATAGAN, BATANGAS — On May 29, 2026, E. Zobel Foundation, Inc. (EZF) successfully convened its annual General Assembly for Tom Layng Educational Assistance Program (TLEAP) Scholars at the Function Hall of ENZO TECH Compound, Brgy. Gulod, Calatagan, Batangas. The event brought together 55 scholars spanning junior high school, senior high school, and college levels, alongside their parents and guardians, for a day dedicated to academic alignment, holistic development, and the celebration of excellence.
The General Assembly serves as a vital touchpoint for the Foundation to reinforce its partnership with beneficiary families. This year's session focused on orienting the attendees on updated scholarship policies, compliance frameworks, and academic expectations for the upcoming school year, ensuring a unified approach to the scholars' educational journeys.
Education as a Tool for Transformation
A key highlight of the assembly was an inspirational address delivered by Mr. Paulino M. Buenconejo, Executive Director of the E. Zobel Foundation, Inc. Speaking to the students and parents, Mr. Buenconsejo emphasized that education remains one of the most powerful catalysts for personal growth and community transformation.
"Opportunities like this scholarship yield their greatest returns when met with personal dedication, unwavering discipline, and a deep sense of gratitude," Mr. Buenconsejo noted, encouraging the scholars to remain steadfast in their studies despite socio-economic challenges.
The assembly provided an open forum that successfully bridged communication between the Foundation administration, the youth beneficiaries, and their guardians, fostering a strong support system critical for student retention and success.
Holistic Support and Meritorious Recognition
To alleviate the financial barriers often associated with the opening of a new academic year, the E. Zobel Foundation distributed comprehensive educational assistance and school-related benefits during the event. Scholars received:
- School essentials: Ergonomic school bags and complete sets of uniforms.
- Financial subsidies: School supplies vouchers and dedicated shoe allowances.
In line with the Foundation's commitment to cultivating a culture of diligence, the event also featured an awards ceremony recognizing outstanding academic performance. High-achieving scholars were granted cash incentives for academic excellence, celebrating their hard work and motivating the entire cohort to strive for higher milestones.
