EZF Collaboration with Kindred Ph. on Medical Mission in Calatagan, Batangas

On August 31, 2025, the E. Zobel Foundation (EZF), in partnership with Kindred Health Philippines, successfully conducted a medical mission in the Municipality of Calatagan.

This initiative aimed to provide accessible and quality healthcare services to the local community while also strengthening the capacity of Barangay Health Workers (BHWs) and guidance counselors through relevant training sessions.

The medical mission was warmly welcomed by residents, who eagerly availed themselves of the free health services offered during the day. A total of 100 patients received medical attention, distributed as follows:
Pap Smear: 43 patients

- Breast Ultrasound: 11 patients
- General Practitioner Consultation: 15 patients
- OB-GYN Consultation: 19 patients
- Transvaginal Ultrasound: 12 patients

These services addressed both preventive and curative healthcare needs, with particular emphasis on women’s health. The consultations and diagnostic procedures created opportunities for early detection, proper management, and patient education, thereby contributing significantly to the overall well-being of the community.

In addition to the medical services, capacity-building programs were also carried out. A morning training session for Barangay Health Workers (BHW) was conducted with the theme “Women’s Health.” Topics covered included breast self-examination, menstruation, prenatal care, pregnancy expectations, and sexually transmitted infections (STIs). This session enhanced the knowledge and skills of BHWs, equipping them with practical information to better support residents and promote community health.

During the afternoon session, a specialized training was conducted for guidance counselors from both public and private elementary and high schools. The focus was on identifying abuse and setting gender boundaries—critical areas in safeguarding students’ welfare. This initiative provided counselors with valuable strategies to support the holistic well-being of students and strengthen their role in creating a safer and healthier learning environment.

The collaboration between EZF and Kindred Health Philippines underscored a shared commitment to uplifting community health standards and ensuring that essential medical services reach underserved populations. Beyond addressing immediate health concerns, the mission also laid the groundwork for sustainable healthcare delivery and community empowerment in Calatagan.

Overall, the activity was a resounding success, made possible through the dedication of organizers, healthcare professionals and volunteers who worked hand in hand for the well-being of the people of Calatagan.
