E. Zobel Foundation and Kindred Health Philippines Partner to Modernize Women’s Healthcare and Community Support in Calatagan
CALATAGAN, BATANGAS — In a strategic effort to bridge healthcare gaps and empower local frontliners, the E. Zobel Foundation, Inc. (EZF), in collaboration with Kindred Health Philippines, successfully mounted a comprehensive medical mission and capacity-building initiative last August 31, 2025.
The mission provided 100 residents of Calatagan with access to specialized medical services that are often difficult to obtain in rural areas. With a dedicated focus on women’s reproductive health, the mission facilitated 43 Pap smears, 19 OB-GYN consultations, and 23 specialized ultrasounds (Breast and Transvaginal), alongside general practitioner consultations.
“Our goal is to act as a catalyst for community resilience,” said Paulino Buenconsejo, Executive Director of EZF. “By providing these diagnostic tools and expert consultations, we are not just treating symptoms; we are promoting early detection and giving our women the dignity of quality healthcare.”
Empowering the Gatekeepers of Health
Recognizing that sustainable health starts at the barangay level, the initiative included a specialized "Women’s Health" training intensive for Barangay Health Workers (BHWs). The session equipped BHWs with vital knowledge on prenatal care, breast self-examination, and STI prevention, ensuring they can provide better localized support to their respective communities.
Safeguarding the Next Generation
The mission’s impact extended beyond physical health into student welfare. In a dedicated afternoon session, guidance counselors from both public and private schools underwent training on identifying abuse and establishing gender boundaries. This specialized workshop provided educators with the tools needed to create safer, more supportive learning environments for the youth of Calatagan.
A Shared Vision for Resilience
The partnership between EZF and Kindred Health Philippines highlights a shared commitment to uplifting underserved populations through values-based service. By combining immediate medical intervention with long-term capacity building, the mission reinforced the Foundation’s pillars of Health and Stewardship.
The success of the day was a result of the seamless collaboration between healthcare professionals, volunteers, and community leaders, all working toward a singular vision: a healthier, more empowered Calatagan.
